I am Tom and I like to ride my bike, and this is my little corner to display my riding adventures.
LET THE TRAINING BEGIN JUNE
It all starts here, my first century ride since 2012, this effort was going to be more miles but a late start and time commitment resulted in a 16:00 finish. Still managed 110 Miles with room in the tank for more, which is good as I will need to do a lot more!
Bike had some mishaps with the chain dropping due to no chain guard on the front, GPS was faultless now mixed with a new ANT+ HR.
Mobile was crap / Apple Watch was equally crap for battery life. Roads was pot holed piles of dog crap.
First 30 mile training route before the Century on the 17th June.
Good running and kit test was ok. The GPS was OK however the Mobile Phone was controlling the GPS Mapping and HR meter.
Bike felt good, dropping to 9 speed on flats is a good investment of weight saving.
Although… any hills and all the saving goes right out the window, I can see a return to 11 Speed double rather soon.
This is my daily training 14 mile route.
Flat and about 45-50 min long, main goal is to get it to 39 min.
Excellent benchmarking for new equipment and tweaks to the bike.
And since I created this segment in Strava I currently own the KOM on it :)

UPDATED MAY 2020: THE LONG (delayed) ROAD TO MALLORCA 312
I've done distance before, my longest in the saddle is 130 Miles. However, that was a different discipline, carrying extra weight and riding heavy 10KG - 11.5KG bikes. Time to change all of that by dropping down to an 8KG bike and limiting what is carried along the way. Bodyweight is already down 8% and hoping to reach a target weight of 11.5 Stone. The only other thing to do is train hard about speed, previous averages are around 13mph -14.5mph. This needs to raise to at least 18mph if I have any hope of finishing in the top 30%. I've always run Schwalbe Marathons at 28's and currently on 25's they are going to have to go too, Continental GP5000 23mm's are I'm hoping are going to buy me marginal gains on average speed. The way I see it If I can ride 130 miles on 28's Heavy then 23mm's super light should buy me an extra 2-3mph average.
2020 has been a shit year that has been ruined by COVID-19, hoping 2021 see's people safe and healthy once more.
